All generic TLD extensions and certain country-code ones support a security lock option whose purpose is to stop unapproved transfers of active domain names. Lots of registry operators that supervise ccTLDs that don’t support this option are in the process of adopting it for better safety and for the convenience of the domain owners. A domain can be transferred only if it is unlocked and only a registrant who has been granted access to the account with the current registrar company can do that. New domains are registered with the lock option enabled intentionally, so as to prevent any unapproved transfer attempts. The lock feature is one of the security measures for regulating the transfer of active domains between domain registrars that have been introduced over the years.

Registrar Lock in Cloud Hosting

If you get a cloud hosting package from our company, you’ll be able to manage all domains registered through us using our Hepsia hosting Control Panel and you will be able to unlock any of them with only a couple of clicks of the mouse. All registrations will be displayed alphabetically in the Domain Manager section of the hosting Control Panel and for each one of them you will see a tiny padlock icon. Clicking on it will show you the current security lock status. If the domain name is locked and you want to transfer it away, you’ll just have to click once again and you will be all set. Locking a domain is just as easy and since the domain names are administered in the exact same location as the web hosting account itself, you will not need to sign in and out of different admin dashboards.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you have registered a domain name through us and you want to transfer it away, you can quickly unlock it via the very same Hepsia Control Panel, which you use to administer your semi-dedicated server account. All registrations will be shown alphabetically in your account and you’ll see a tiny padlock icon on the right side of each domain name there, on the condition that its extension supports the registrar lock option. You can find out whether the domain name is locked or not by clicking on this icon and alter the present status by clicking on it again. You can then continue and initiate the transfer straight away without waiting for the status to be updated on WHOIS lookup websites, as the update will take effect immediately without you or us having to do anything else.
